I was drafted into the Army on December 7, 1966. Following induction I went to basic training at Fort Lewis, WA. and then on to Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. for advanced training as a medical corpsman. After finishing medic's training I was assigned to Sharpe's Army Depot, Lathrop, CA. where I worked in the dispensary. In October 1967 I caught a flight to Bien Hoa, Viet Nam for reassignment to the 93rd Evacuation Hospital, the largest in Vietnam. At the 93rd I worked in the surgical intensive care unit providing medical care for the most seriously wounded. I was at the 93rd during the TET Offensive. In September 1968, I was reassigned to the Oakland Army Base and was then honorably discharged.
