Helping Our Veterans in times of Need

Treasury Check

Our country has been under a tremendous strain for almost a year and many citizens are in-need of help.  The Government recently sent relief checks.  Many need this stimulus, others do not.  If you are one of those who do not need this check, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1555, here in Chico, has a relief fund that is used to aid veterans in their time of need.  Our relief fund depends on donations to enable us to fund our much-needed support functions. If you are not in need of received funds; we ask that you consider donating to our Post Relief Fund so we can continue our efforts to help.  Donations can be made to VFW Post 1555, c/o Commander, Mike Halldorson, 554 Rio Lindo Avenue, Chico, Ca 95926.  Write on the memo line "For Relief Fund.”  For more information call Mike Halldorson at (530)513-3730 or Pat Hurton at (530)343-4060.

The purpose of VFW Post 1555, Chico, CA. shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational: to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead; and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies.

Abraham Lincoln is purported to have said; "Nearly all men can stand adversity but if you want to test a man's character give him power."

To rephrase that quotation, and relate it to the members of VFW Post 1555; "Nearly all who are serving or who have served our country have experienced adversity but all maintained their character."
